Washington Post ....Is Obama tough enough? w/poll
Sat Apr 28, 2007 at 07:52:34 AM PDT
Why is "toughness" a virtue? Is it tough when we are attacked to ignore the country of the attackers and attack a country that was not involved? Is it tough to hold no one in your administration accountable for incompetence that is destroying our military capability , ignoring our cities and threats to our environment, all the while punishing this country's workers at the expense of annointed few?
"At issue is whether Obama mishandled a question about how he would respond if two American cities were attacked by terrorists: Did he fail to demonstrate the toughness and resolve that voters want in a president or was his answer a careful and comprehensive checklist for any potential president dealing with an international crisis?"
Google forms PAC to support Republicans
Thu Sep 14, 2006 at 10:37:45 AM PDT
Rawstory reports that Google has formed a PAC to support Republican candidates. While the article notes that while individuals have been more likely to support Democrats, the company seeks increased influence in DC by supporting Republicans.
Do we need to be concerned about Google gooing to bed with Republicans? Will they offer more than simply $$$? While the blogosphere has incredible research capabilities, I am afraid that Google's as yet untapped resources could offer an incredible advantage to the opposition party.

Wes Clark Advises Supporter to Urge Lieberman to back down
Wed Aug 09, 2006 at 09:52:28 AM PDT
On Tuesday, the message sent by Connecticut voters was loud and clear. They want change, and they want Ned Lamont to represent them in the U.S. Senate, voting for Ned by a 52% - 48% margin over Senator Joe Lieberman in the Democratic primary.
When Democrats retake congress
Fri Apr 21, 2006 at 03:29:39 PM PDT
EJ Dionne comments that Rove's demotion is merely a refocusing of his efforts. He is being asked to use his nefarious talents to insure that the GOP maintains control of congress thereby effectively blocking investigation into the Bush regime's criminal deceptions, cronyism and acting outside the dictates of the US constitution.
We can only hope that Fitzgerald's indictment will make Rove a short-timer in his new role before being frog-marched out of the White House.
How will a new Democratic congress set priorities? Will they be able to effectively reverse much of the damage and abusive legislation that Bush has foisted on us or will they focus and bog down investigating Bush's crimes? Will we win in 2006, and fail to deliver in time for the public to support the Dems in 2008? Is 2 years sufficient to regain the public's trust?

Anyone with some spare dollars who wants to see Air America remain online in Atlanta, please step forth. If Al Gore won't step forward to start his liberal network, perhaps we can create a limited partnership to allow us to invest in keeping this station on the air.
Wesley Clark Surprises Hannity
Sat Jun 18, 2005 at 05:15:10 AM PDT
"Wesley Clark, new Fox News contributor, had a chance to test his debate strategies with Hannity last night on Hannity and Colmes. Clark was on to discuss Dick Durbin's comment about treatment of detainees at Guantanamo Bay and if Hannity expected Clark to apologize for Durbin's comment, he was in for a surprise."
Clark's response to Hannity was very effective. "I'm not going to condemn Durbin."

African American Voter's Rights Activist Pays with his Life
Mon Oct 11, 2004 at 09:36:23 AM PDT
Let's honor Harry T. Moore's legacy by mobilizing the African American community and winning FL
In 1944, Thurgood Marshall won a major victory in the landmark Smith v. Allwright case, in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the "lily-white" Democratic Party primary was unconstitutional. Harry Moore immediately organized the Progressive Voters' League, and in the next six years, due primarily to his leadership, over 116,000 black voters were registered in the Florida Democratic Party. This represented 31 percent of all eligible black voters in the state, a figure that was 51% higher than any other southern state.
In June 1946, Moore paid a terrible price for his political activism, as he and Harriette were both fired from their teaching jobs.
Read about Harry T. Moore at PBS
On Christmas Day 1951, Moore himself was killed when a bomb was placed beneath the floor joists directly under his bed. Moore died on the way to the hospital; his wife, Harriette, died nine days later.

Post Debate Toolbox
Mon Sep 27, 2004 at 06:51:13 PM PDT
After the debate, we must let the media know who we thought won. We should bombard major networks with our opinions; statments like, "In the debates, I felt I really got to know John Kerry, and I now trust him" or, "the president seemed confused" would be appropriate and effective. In this thread please discuss what type of message we want to send to the media, and how best to send it.
The following list contains most of the major media outlets' email addresses. When emailing please BCC this long list.
FOXNEWS: Deleted Not Read w/POLL
Wed Sep 22, 2004 at 07:45:58 AM PDT
A recent entry elsewhere listed numerous email addresses for news agencies. I emiled a response to all of them. Surprisingly, most of the emails were opened and read. But, every single contact from FOXNEWS returned the email receipt, deleted not opened. Guess that's just a bit more Fair and Unbalanced.
LTE: Explains Kerry's Iraq Votes
Fri Sep 17, 2004 at 06:10:39 AM PDT
Dear Editor,
Teddy Roosevelt said, "Speak softly, and carry a big stick." There appears to be needless confusion surrounding John Kerry's votes on Iraq. If one researchs the two different bills and Kerry's votes, you will find both votes totally consistent with his views. Kerry initially voted to authorize President Bush to "carry a big stick." When it became clear that Bush forgot the part about "speaking softly" and that Bush planned to use that stick no matter what the outcome of the diplomatic efforts, Kerry wisely voted against Bush's Iraq war.
George Bush has been right on everything, but he has been wrong on everything as well. He has been wrong on the war, wrong on the economy, wrong on the environment, wrong on education, and AWOL when it comes to improving access to healthcare. It is time for progessive leadership that can lead us in a new direction.
A Mythic Reality
Thu Sep 09, 2004 at 06:22:43 AM PDT
Krugman's piece in the times, is an excellent psychological discussion why American's want a war president. His comments on how to combat this would be the slogan:
Bush, the "War President" isn't an effective leader - he only plays one on TV.
Maybe another approach would be, "No, I'm not really a War President, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
Is Bush better for National Security (poll)
Sun Aug 29, 2004 at 12:23:51 PM PDT
Can this information and video clips from "The Man who Knew" be make an effective ad to prove Bush is not stronger on terrorism?
"No longer is it just the fear of being attacked by international terrorist organizations -- attacks against Americans and American interests overseas. A lot of these groups now have the capability and the support infrastructure in the United States to attack us here if they choose to do so."
-- John P. O'Neill, 1996
Until he resigned in August of 2001, John O'Neill was the director of counterterrorism for the FBI's New York office, not far from the WTC. O'Neill investigated the bombings of the World Trade Centre in 1993, a US base in Saudi Arabia in 1996, the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar-Es-Salaam in 1998, and the USS Cole.
So the polls are inaccurate (poll)
Fri Aug 27, 2004 at 02:05:36 PM PDT
The poll below will help us understand the underlying dynamics if again we see that polling is not predictive of the outcome of this years presidential election.
