Drugs..400 million dollars

Sat Jun 28, 2008 at 07:43:40 PM PDT

Thanks American taxpayers! You have just spent 400 million dollars more on the Great War on Drugs. Not even a drop in the bucket on what Plan Colombia has cost, but a good start, right? While some think it is a cash transfer to corrupt Mexican politicians well they would be wrong.

Drugs

Thu Jun 26, 2008 at 08:07:12 PM PDT

Back in January, a Border patrol agent, Luis Aguilar, was run over and killed while in the line of duty, when a presumptive drug runner hit him and fled to Mexico.  He left behind a wife an two kids.

Another less known war, that has killed more innocents than Iraq, the Drug Wars.

Or Spice Wars.

I'm a bit curious.

I live in Mexico and, while I am quite safe, many are not.

I understand that many people in America are suffering from all the crap of seven years of the conservative ideal

Just because you can

Doesn't mean you you must post a diary. Diary after diary on the same topic, on FISA or Russert or the outrage of the day diminishes our community and weakens our voice.

What's For Dinner:Mexico

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 04:23:14 PM PDT

Mexican cuisine has become quite popular internationally in recent years, especially in the United States. However, it is often describes as too full of fat, too greasy, or too spicy. as a cuisine, it is greatly misunderstood and often poorly prepared and presented.

Cry Wolf

Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 08:49:17 PM PDT

A teenager who took a sign reading "If you love our nation, stop illegal immigration" to school said she was hurt after being swarmed by angry classmates, and administrators said Tuesday they have suspended three students involved in the scuffle

Melanie Bowers claimed that a gang of latinos  beat her, threatened to rape her and kill her. This, of course set off a shitstorm in the anti Mexican blogoshphere.

No maiz, No pais

Thu Jan 31, 2008 at 09:01:49 PM PDT

Those lazy Mexicans who would rather sneak over the border than fix their own country again turned out to protest NAFTA.

Led by a column of tractors, tens of thousands of demonstrators marched through downtown Mexico City on Thursday to protest recent trade openings that removed the last tariff protections for ancestral Mexican crops like corn and beans.

Chanting "Without corn, the country doesn't exist!" farmers and farm activists from across the nation demanded the Mexican government renegotiate the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, to reinstate protection for basic crops.

I Need a Hug

Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 11:11:16 PM PDT

We need a hug. We all need a hug. Everyone must get hugged. Nasty cantidate diaries are destroying this community. I like this place. Although I'm a kind of new here, with a UID from the class of 80,000, I have come to love the friendship and snark and pooties and recipes that entertain and entrance me.

Hasta la vista, Ya me voy

Tue Nov 20, 2007 at 10:03:39 PM PDT

As a nine year old, I came close to drowning. I didn't swim very well and even today I remember that feeling, under the water, gasping for oxygen and inhaling water. Sinking deeper and loosing the strenght to fight

Dirty Immigrants Spread Disease

Thu Nov 08, 2007 at 08:38:15 PM PDT

Look out!

One of the most disgusting but pervasive anti foreigner and anti immigrant talking points is that "those people" carry nasty diseases. From the Irish at Five Points to the use of toxic and corrosive chemicals on Mexican workers all the way to exterminating Jews

Mexico Flood

Sat Nov 03, 2007 at 10:17:03 PM PDT

Listen, click me.

I've seen many people who are looking for an organization to donate to, not only for the damnificados in Chiapis and Tabasco, but in the Carribean, as well. Noel did a number, Haiti got screwed again.

But wait! Hold that cash!

Mexico. Look. There's oil

Thu Nov 01, 2007 at 10:19:00 PM PDT

Down south of the border, the Mexican state of Tabasco, about ten thousand square miles, with a population of almost 2 million is 80% covered by water. I've been watching dramatic rescue scenes

Does my ass look big in these jeans?

Thu Aug 30, 2007 at 08:22:27 PM PDT

I have a couple of pairs of 501s that I've been dragging around the world for a couple of decades. The nice thing about the buttons on the fly is that if you are a bit too fat to fasten them all they way to the top a loose shirt covers the bulge. I like my levis.

It takes some time and some washing to soften them up and make them  comfy.

Some people are not so patient. There is a huge market for blue jeans that look worn.

Nuevo Slavery, it's all good

Thu Aug 23, 2007 at 11:50:29 PM PDT

It's marvelous that finaly, America has woken up and discoverd that there has been a vast invasion from the south by hordes of Mexicans, and even more dangerous Central Americans. These invaders flood across our borders to kill and rape and take our jobs.

Boys will be boys

Tue Jul 24, 2007 at 08:00:27 PM PDT

That sounds sexist, I know. But that is the only way I can excuse the dozen young sailors who spent a couple of hours in a nice restaruant in my home town in Mexico, cussing, insulting the waiters, the women and the entire country of Mexico. They were drunk.

Teenager Victim of Hate Crime Commits Suicide

Mon Jul 02, 2007 at 08:23:07 AM PDT

David Ritcheson was a young latino from Texas who was attacked by skinheads at a party last year. He was beaten, sodomized with PVC pipe, burned and left for dead. On April 17 he testified at House Committee meeting regarding Hate Crime Legislation.

Just plain stupid, thanks tancredo

Sat Jun 16, 2007 at 06:59:09 PM PDT

and all the idiots on our side of the aisle

The U.S. House on Friday voted to withhold federal emergency services funding from so-called sanctuary cities that protect illegal immigrants

Illegal immigration opponent Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., sponsored the measure, which he says would apply to cities such as Denver and Boulder. He was elated by its passage, which stunned critics and supporters alike.

Good old boys can't get a break

Tue May 08, 2007 at 06:25:49 PM PDT

I was going to write a diary about how a few guys without guns were planning on attacking Fort Dix and how we are all saved from jihad. Then I was going to contrast it with how the media has discussed the the Alabama Free Militia wh actually had guns, explosives and plans.

So Luis Posada is good to go, militias that want to kill Mexicans with real guns are on the back page and a bunch of wannabe terrorists who have are unarmed are the fright de jour.
